Early Roots & Career Foundation

David grew up in Dallas, Texas, where early jobs mowing yards, running newspaper routes, and shifts at a cafe and golf course taught him work ethic and service. He played golf in high school, then attended the University of North Texas, earning a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Accounting. He became a CPA and spent about 25 years in audit and corporate finance for several media companies, ultimately serving in Chief Financial Officer roles, before starting Go RV Rentals.

From Renter to Advocate

Family life brought many road trips. The first outdoors experience was tent camping, then renting a travel trailer for a weekend at a Texas state park in 2000. He immediately thought RVs are cool, go where you want, go when you want–freedom. Several years later, the family flew to Denver, Colorado rented a Class C motorhome, and explored Colorado and South Dakota, including Mount Rushmore. Another time they flew into Jackson Hole, Wyoming and spent a week discovering Yellowstone National Park in a motorhome—a trip that made it hard to go back home. Over the years David rented multiple RVs, learning first-hand about these rigs and what matters to travelers.

He eventually became an RV owner as well, with three rigs over time: a Trail Lite travel trailer, a Keystone Montana fifth wheel, and a Winnebago View Class C motorhome (aka “the silver fox”). David loves to go to new places. He’s visited 7 foreign countries, traveled to all 50 U.S. states (many by RV) and visited 38 U.S. National Parks—experience that shapes his perspective on quality, safety, and simplicity.

The “Aha” Moment

The spark for Go RV Rentals came before a spring break college visit tour with his son. David tried to rent an RV and hit wall after wall: fully booked calendars, no pets allowed, unanswered phones. He found himself on page two of Google—“the place no one goes”—and realized it was harder to rent an RV than it had been to book a New York City vacation with flights and hotel. That frustration was filed away in his mind eventually turning into a mission.

In 2014, while transitioning careers, he decided to build a website where people could search RVs from different rental sources in one place and connect for a quote and booking. After spending 7 months developing the first version of the online marketplace with some help from his computer whiz son and supported by MarketGrabber software, the site went live in September 2014. The cold start problem (i.e., no inventory, no customers) was the next problem to solve. David started acquiring rental listings locally in the Dallas-Fort Worth area as a result of face-to-face meetings with dealers then he recruited dealers across Texas, ultimately expanding nationwide in about a dozen cities in several states during the first 3 years. As peer-to-peer rentals (like Airbnb for RVs) took off, he leaned in to the sharing economy in late 2018—partnering with trusted providers and bringing both private-owner listings and dealership fleets into one marketplace where travelers could quickly find an RV rental in one search.

Naming the company mattered. He wanted something that felt like cars.com meets hotels.com (two popular sites at the time)—action-oriented, freedom, adventure, and unmistakably RV. Go RV Rentals fit perfectly. Even better, the domain GoRVRentals.com was available at auction for $399. He clicked “Buy It Now.”

Guiding the Marketplace Forward

David runs the business day-to-day and stays close to travelers. He answers questions directly, publishes helpful resources, and champions a product that puts the customer first—because he first was the customer. His finance background keeps the platform disciplined; his media savvy reaches customers and fosters community; and his extensive RV and travel knowledge keeps things real.

Under his leadership, Go RV Rentals has grown from a few hundred local listings to 34,000+ RVs across the U.S. and Canada, welcoming thousands of daily site visitors. The product is now powered by a custom WordPress application with API’s, spans peer-to-peer (private owners) and dealership rentals (company owned), offers a wide selection from luxury coaches to budget-friendly campers, and supports renters with insurance coverage and 24/7 roadside assistance.

Over the years, David has also built a talented team of professionals in technology, marketing, and content. This group manages the platform’s technical stack, drives creative marketing campaigns, and produces resources that inspire and inform the RVing community. Together, they ensure Go RV Rentals continues to be the best place to rent an RV and to grow while staying focused on helping travelers. He also enjoys guiding the content strategy—sharing expert RV tips, product reviews, destination guides, and downloadable checklists that help families plan smarter trips.

“RVing should be the easiest family vacation to book—not the hardest.”

On the Road, Still Learning

Even with years behind the wheel, David still sees every trip as a chance to learn. He typically stays at full-service campgrounds, but he enjoys occasional boondocking—thanks to solar and lithium batteries—for quieter nights close to nature. From Yellowstone’s geysers to the Black Hills and the Grand Canyon, these miles inform the platform’s features and the advice he shares with the  growing community.

Looking Ahead

David’s vision is simple: continue improving the product and growing the platform so finding the right RV is fast, easy, and enjoyable. As RV travel keeps gaining popularity, Go RV Rentals will keep evolving—more helpful tools, smarter search, and resources that make planning a trip easier than ever.
