  • If you don’t download, you can’t use it in areas where the internet connection is spotty or nonexistent.
  • The user interface can be overwhelming for beginners because it packs so much information in one place.

Actual User Review of RV Trip Wizard

We use this planner a LOT for plotting routes and finding campgrounds along whatever path we’re taking. The reviews provided by visitors to all these campsites are very useful in deciding where to stay.

Actual User Review of RV Parky

We started using
RVParky during initial COVID lockdowns here and have really found it quite useful and free is always a bonus. Have even found good overnight suggestions.

Actual User Review of Roadtrippers App

The big miss for me is not planning the trip, but identifying things to do in a given area. Searching Google for things to do doesn’t show the proximity to where you are. The only RV trip planning tool I have found so far that shows options of things to do and see is Roadtrippers.

CoPilot RV GPS: Best RV Route Planner With Offline Mode

Pros of CoPilot RV

  • Installs the map databases on the phone, allowing offline mode.
  • Voice guidance.
  • Speed limit indicators and alerts.
  • Shows detours.
  • Calculates the most efficient routes.

Cons of CoPilot RV

  • The user interface isn’t very friendly.
  • It doesn’t always suggest the best route.
  • The search function is not very good at finding stuff like campgrounds.

Actual User Review of CoPilot RV GPS App

I
use CoPilot for a 35ft class A. It keeps me from going over, or under, bridges I should not be using and some causeways. Other than that, I have not seen a great benefit. It has sent me on some roads I believe an RV should not be on. On the other hand, it does not try to route you through backroads to save 2 minutes (like Waze). Just make sure you have those preferences set right.

Trucker Path: Best RV Navigation App for Big Rigs

Best Apps for RV travel
  • App Store Ratings: 4.7 out of 5 stars from 93k reviews

  • Offline Option: No
  • Top Features: Truck maps, parking spots for large rigs, rest areas, weather and traffic updates, plus cheap fuel stations.

Trucker Path provides the best-in-class truck navigation features, making it perfect for those driving or towing big RVs. Use it as an RV GPS routing app to avoid dangerous situations like low bridges, steep climbs, and low tunnels. Moreover, it’s great when you need to find free overnight parking in a pinch.

Pros of Trucker Path

  • Great navigation tool for big-rig owners.
  • Good for finding discounted fuel.
  • Better and faster compared to traditional Garmin GPS.

Cons of Trucker Path

  • Not RV-specific, geared towards trucks (no campgrounds and attractions).

Actual User Review of Trucker Path RV Driving Route Planner

I use Trucker Path. It is free, and it shows truck stops, which is what I need/want for my trailer being 44-feet long. It gives you distances, GPS, etc. Has worked well for me for many years now, and would suggest taking a look.

Sygic GPS Truck & Caravan: Best International RV Road Trip Planner

  • RV safe routing with voice instruction.
  • Multi-stop route planning.
  • You can set preferences such as avoidance of toll roads.
  • Plan with Google Maps and send the route to the app.
  • Lane assistant.

Cons of Sygic GPS Truck & Caravan

  • Sometimes your maps disappear.
  • You can ONLY add a POI if you know the GPS coordinates.
  • Mostly focuses on Europe.
  • Not very user-friendly.
  • Customer support isn’t great.

Actual User Review of Sygic GPS Truck & Caravan

Had Sygic on 4 devices and always been able to swap between them without issues. Used in many foreign countries without any problem, swapping across to km from miles. It displays your current speed and the speed limit of the road you are on. This is often wrong as it always thinks you should go lorry(truck) speed.

Garmin RV GPS: Best RV Trip Planner Device

  • Share and import routes.

Cons of Garmin RV GPS

  • The device is expensive.
  • Doesn’t show multiple routing options to choose from, like Google Maps.
  • Some of the routes it generates aren’t the most efficient.

Actual User Review of Garmin RV GPS

I highly recommend Garmin RV GPS. I have been using the Garmin RV 785 for a couple years now. It has a dash cam, and you can set up two profiles, one for when you are towing the RV and one when you are not. I use mine in my truck every day and then just switch profiles. As stated, you just set up your profile with your RV info and the GPS does the rest. You can also set any avoidances you want.

Actual User Review of Allstays Camp & RV

We’ve been heavy users of Allstays Camp & RV since 2012 or so. It has been a tremendous resource for us as we travel. We’ve used it to locate remote, off-grid camping in National Forests, any number of commercial campgrounds, county campsites, Flying J’s, Cracker Barrel, propane dealers, dump stations, you-name-it.

InRoute Pro: Best RV App for Planning Around Road Conditions

Pros of InRoute

  • Voice guide and turn-by-turn directions.
  • Elevation and grade avoidance routing.
  • You can enter your RV specs to avoid clearance issues and weight restrictions.
  • Save, share, export, and import routes from XLSX, GPX, and KML files.
  • You can build your own route both manually and automatically.
  • Interactive charts showing road conditions.
  • Routes are available when offline.

Cons of InRoute

  • The interface isn’t user-friendly.
  • Does’t always suggest the best route.
  • Not entirely dedicated to RV travel.

Actual User Review of InRoute

The routing is quite good, but the interface is much more clunky. It uses Apple Maps for its map visualization, so it feels modern and you can get 3D views, which is pleasing to look at. Searching and setting multiple waypoints is a little strange, and when it tries to “optimize waypoints” it seems to scramble everything and revert back to car directions.

  • It will automatically schedule stops
  • Shows accommodation prices.

Cons of Furkot

  • Not very intuitive.
  • Isn’t available offline.
  • It’s a website, not an app.

Actual User Review of Furkot

I just completed a
3400-mile trip. I did all my planning with Furkot. I tried all the others. Furkot did everything. It’s exceptionally powerful…. it also has a very steep learning curve. If you do not wrest control over the planning process, you will not be able to use it well.
